What happened?
Brandon Khela is threatening to become a complete midfielder at Peterborough United. The 21-year-old suffered a bit of a stop-start season last term, but the Posh coaching staff have identified more strengths to Khela’s game and work done on the training pitch has been translated into pre-season form.
Why it matters for Peterborough United
What comes next?
In the 2-1 win at York City, Khela not only scored his second goal of the summer – both with his weaker foot – he also won praise from his manager for his passing ability and vision. “There was a lot of good to take from last night, for the team and for me,” Khela, who played through a nagging injury towards the end of last season, told the Posh Plus service. “I played 90 minutes so my fitness is building and now I have two goals with my left foot. "I’ve been working hard on that with the staff. They were similar goals as I shifted the ball on to my left foot before placing a shot into the corner. "The staff also want to use my energy more so I’m working on my intelligence as to when to go forwards and when to sit back and conserve my energy. "It’s been a pleasure to share midfield with Carl Johnston as well. I never knew he had played in central midfield before and he’s been doing a great job in there. He’s also taken the captain’s armband on at a relatively young age so hats off to him. "The manager has tried to instil the ethos of a winning mentality into pre-season. He has a young squad all working hard and that mentality has been seen in pre-season, so hopefully it transfers into the season proper.
