Peterborough United's Ben Woods has declared himself fully fit and ready to get back to his best in a Posh shirt. The midfielder started his first match of the season and scored the opening goal of Posh’s 2-1 League One win over Mansfield Town on Saturday, as the team looks to improve on their 18th place finish in the final 2025 table with 53 points.

What happened?

Ben Woods was partnered with new signing Liam Kelly from the start against ‘The Stags’ and capped a fine display by converting a Harry Leonard cross to give Posh a 50th minute lead.

Why it matters for Peterborough United

Woods lasted 70 minutes of a game Posh eventually won with an injury-time Leonard goal before being replaced by Chris Conn-Clarke, but he insists he is now fighting fit and ready to kick on in a blue shirt after a debut campaign that was blighted so much by injury last season.

What comes next?

With 64 goals scored and 68 conceded so far this season, Peterborough United are looking to turn their form around and close the 50-point gap behind leaders Lincoln. Woods said: “I could allow myself to be pleased when Harry put the ball in the back of the net at the end! Obviously, I was happy to score myself, which is something I have been brought here to do.
