Peterborough United midfielder Harrison Jones has insisted that the team will continue to work hard on the training ground after opening day defeat at Bradford City. The team's recent form has been LDLDL, with 64 goals scored and 68 conceded in the current season. They are 50 points behind the leaders Lincoln in the League One table. League standing (final 2025 table -- new season not yet under way): 18th in League One, 53 pts, 15W-8D-23L from 46 games, recent form LDLDL.

What happened?

Jones started the first game of the League One season on Saturday as Posh were beaten 2-0 at Valley Parade. He lasted 61 minutes before being replaced by debutant Liam Kelly and had one of Posh's best chances of the game but he could only shoot over in the first half.

Why it matters for Peterborough United

At full-time, an upbeat Jones insisted that Posh would take the positives from the game and return to the training ground to work on set-pieces among other things after the opening goal came from a corner; a weakness that has plagued Posh in recent seasons.

What comes next?

He said: "I'll definitely take a lot from this game. It is a long season. There's plenty of positives in there. When they scored, we were beginning to play our best stuff so it was a bit of a sucker punch. We'll go back to the training ground, keep working hard and do more set-piece practice and look forward to next week."

More from Harrison Jones

In the first half, we defended really well and could have controlled the ball more and been braver in possession. The best way to defend is with the ball and make them defend. It's a tough place to come. Great arena, loud fans so it sounds simple to be brave on the ball but it's hard when you've got 25,000 people screaming and shouting. It's up to us to play our game and not theirs though, which we did too much today.

Next steps for Peterborough United

On the pitch it felt a million miles an hour, there's definitely a lot of changes this season. We'll have to watch it back and learn. I always have a positive outlook on life. I'll definitely watch it back, it's a really long season and we'll prepare well for every game. It's a really physical league and it's up to us to match them up and be better physically. We showed that our speed is really good but it's about translating being physical into goals.
