Peterborough United could receive a huge financial boost this summer if their former skipper moves on. Posh sold their captain and left-back to Sheffield United in a £4 million deal in the summer of 2024. They would have a considerable sell-on fee coming their way if the 24-year-old moved on to ‘The Hammers.’ Sell-ons usually mean a percentage of a profit and Burrows has been valued at £10 million recently. Burrows enjoyed a stellar first season in Sheffield and came agonisingly close to a promotion to the Premier League, which would have triggered a £1 million bonus for Posh. ‘The Blades’ and Burrows suffered a poor season by comparison in 2025-26 and manager Chris Wilder has threatened a re-build, one that could be part funded by the sale of the Posh Academy graduate. West Ham would be an attractive destination for Burrows who is under contract in South Yorkshire until June, 2028. ‘The Hammers’ are currently 9/4 favourites with Sky Bet to win the Championship next season and make an immediate return to the Premier League. Sheffield United are currently 12/1. Posh made an extra million pounds when former player Ephron Mason-Clark won promotion to the Premier League with Coventry City last season.
