Peterborough United have confirmed the immediate departure of assistant manager Ryan Harley and first-team coach Connell Rawlinson. The exits are part of a wider backroom reshuffle following Robbie Savage's appointment as manager last week.

Goalkeeper coach Richard Taylor and head of sports science Ian Hutton have also left the club. Their departures were revealed earlier this week, with Hutton having already returned to former club Bristol Rovers.

Harley, who joined the club 12 months ago as assistant to former boss Luke Williams, served as caretaker manager after Williams was sacked three weeks ago. He oversaw a win over Colchester in the Trophy and a league defeat at Stockport County. Rawlinson, who joined this summer with a focus on set-pieces, was also in the dugout for Tuesday night's Trophy victory over Ipswich Town Under-21s.

New manager Robbie Savage thanked the pair for his help during his first days in charge. "I want to thank Ryan and Connell for the way they welcomed me and helped me during the last few days," Savage said. "I wish Ryan and Connell all the best for the future."

The club issued a statement on Friday morning thanking both men for their efforts. It also confirmed Taylor's exit was a personal decision following the change in management.

These changes come at a critical time, with the club's stats showing a severe struggle for goals in league matches. This lack of firepower is a key factor in their current position in the standings. Their recent form makes for grim reading. Savage's first league game in charge is a tough trip to face Leicester City on Saturday, a fixture detailed in the club's fixtures list. The club has stated that new appointments to the first-team staff will be made in due course.
