Peterborough United host Colchester United in an EFL Trophy group match at the ABAX Stadium on Tuesday night. The game offers a chance for Darren Ferguson's side to find a winning rhythm after a difficult start to the League One season, where they currently sit 23rd with just five points from seven games.
Their last outing was a 2-0 home defeat to Doncaster Rovers, a result that extended their winless run in the league. Before that, they showed fighting spirit in a 3-3 draw with Barnsley, with D. Ormerod scoring twice and Harry Leonard also on target. The full details of their recent results, including the 1-1 draw at MK Dons, are available on our stats page.
Colchester, from League Two, arrive having lost their last four matches in all competitions. Their most recent starting lineup featured players like T. Lo-Tutala in goal and K. Kouassi leading the line. Peterborough are expected to rotate their squad, with the likes of A. Bass, C. Johnston, and Harrison Jones potentially involved again.
With a key league trip to ninth-placed Stockport County looming this weekend, Ferguson will be keen to use this Trophy fixture to build confidence. The manager has not confirmed his team selection but is likely to give minutes to several squad players.
