Peterborough United will not appoint a new manager before their League One fixture at Stockport County this Saturday. The club is currently reviewing over 80 applications for the position left vacant by Luke Williams' departure last weekend.
Assistant manager Ryan Harley is set to remain in temporary charge for the trip to face ninth-placed Stockport. He will also oversee the Jersey Mike’s Trophy group stage match at home to Colchester United on Tuesday, October 6, which kicks off at 7pm. The club is taking its time to ensure the right candidate is selected.
"Posh are in no rush to make an appointment as they accept they have to get this one right," the club said.
The decision comes with the team in a difficult league position, sitting 23rd in League One with just five points from seven matches. Their recent form shows no wins in the last five games, with three draws and two defeats.
After the Trophy game, Peterborough's next League One assignment is a home match against Leicester City on October 10. The club's immediate focus is on preparing for Stockport under Harley's guidance.
