Peterborough United have been handed a transfer blow as they have lost out on previous target Ryan Glover after the Barnet winger moved to Stockport County. Posh were linked with a move for the 25-year-old last month in the wake of the club’s clearout of the playing squad, which saw eight players listed for transfer and many more exiting following the end of their contracts. Glover has been a long-standing target for the London Road side, having also courted interest from the club back in January, but they have ultimately been beaten to his signature by fellow League One side Stockport County. It was confirmed by both the Hatters and Bees that a deal had been struck to bring the winger to Edgeley Park, becoming the first signing of Jim McNulty’s tenure in charge following his appointment last week. The former Aldershot Town man has been handed a three-year contract with the Greater Manchester club, with journalist Sam Byrne noting that County had beaten ‘several’ third-tier clubs to land the deal. In his debut season in the EFL, having helped the Bees to the National League Title the previous campaign, Glover was ever-present in Dean Brennan’s side, with four goals and seven assists to his name in League Two. Speaking about their opening deal of the summer window, which officially opens next week, McNulty told Stockport’s media department: “We’re really pleased to bring Ryan into the group. He’s a talented, versatile & dynamic player who works extremely hard for his team on and off the ball.”
